Suspicious of someone I met on Plenty Of Fish

by Tammy
(Mo.)

Has anyone had any contact with this man. We met on plenty of fish. A few days later he asked me if I would take my profile down. Before I did that I checked to see if he took his down. We have been texting on our phones and talked a couple times.

The thing that is making me suspicious is the pictures he has been sending me I found on someones instagram page. The profile on instagram is Richard(@thenewbiefit) the man I been talking to goes by the name Mark Wesley Hilton.

On this Photo - Beware
by: Anonymous

Yes, this photo is not fake the photo is taken from Instagram user Richard thenewbiefit. The scammer has taken many photos from his Instagram. Richard warns people of someone using his pictures and that he has received many messages. Also Richard never changed on his Instagram account since he open the account on Feb 2016. I don't believe Richard is behind any of this.

I have received this photo and several more of Richard photos from someone being someone else. I have talked to him and his voice is nothing like Richards and he isn't from Switzerland.

We just need to be careful these people in the photos are usually innocent people. They are using Richards pictures on many sites. Not sure if it is the same guy or different scammers. So what I see so far is the pictures are used on

Bumble as Mark Jan 16, 23

Dave Jefferson, Pedro Oscar, John Scarlett, Dawkins James Tik Tok

Darren Gentry Aug 18,23

Michael Gregory on LinkedIn and Facebook

Be careful out there. This guy is from Nigeria. When I called his number it was from Nigeria. It was a bit too late for me and don't fall for people helping you to get your money back.

What I read they are all scammers. But do report it and don't feel a shame or embarrassed.

Still Using this Persons Stolen Identity
by: Anonymous

The scammer using this picture contacted me on Instagram in December 2022. He sent me a picture of himself. I did a reverse search and the first time nothing came up. I tried a few weeks later and it came up on LinkedIn.

But he already told me about the information on LinkedIn, About his job and where he was from and his name was Evan Brownstone. He said he is in San Diego CA. We continued talking in 2023. He did help me through a difficult time as we talked as friends.

But, later it changed and I found out he was scamming. I found out that the LinkedIn picture also was a Michael Gregory on LinkedIn. His page was for oil & gas jobs San Jose CA. Then another picture on Michael Gregory page lead me to his Facebook page.

This scammer has used many of this guys photos and many names. Right now he is

Vanda P Ottawa ON - Housesitters.com

Bigger from Kansas - onlylads.com

Gavin Jimenez Comcast official employee Instagram

Dave Jefferson, Pedro Oscar, John Scarlett, Dawkins James Tik Tok

Evan Brownstone and Michael Gregory are still on LinkedIn

The person using these stolen pictures is Nigerian and he is in Nigeria.

Remember the person in the photos is not the scammer.

He also uses pictures of a mustang, jeep, black Harley Davidson motorcycle and boat as his toys.

Scammer
by: Anonymous

Yup, I’ve been talking to him. He says his name is Darren Gentry claiming to live in Edmonton, AB. I’ve figured him out but I’m playing along. He’s going on a trip tomorrow, I’m sure he will tell me that he needs cash, he’s already been hinting at it.

He’s using What’s App as Darren on a business account. Claims to work for a phone carrier as a lead in customer service.

He’s on Bumble
by: Anonymous

He’s now on Bumble as "Mark" and within a day of messaging he wanted to take it to an app called Telegram. When I refused to download the app he asked to use Facebook Messenger which we did.

Another red flag was that he said he was employed by the US Counterterrorism unit as a PI.

Additional red flags, account says he’s from Oregon, Facebook says Utah, he says Virginia but raised in the Netherlands. He’s not yet asked for money. Initially I did a reverse image search on the first few photos he sent but found nothing. I finally got a hit on the photo attached to this article.

Thank you for exposing him! He’s been blocked and reported on Facebook and Bumble.

I've been chatting with him for a week and a half. He told me he was from Dallas and just left to work on an oil rig in the Gulf of Guinea for 6-8 weeks. He said he name was William and that he was born in England.

He's still at it
by: Anonymous

I've been messaging him for a few days and today he said he wants to be in a relationship with me and asked me to delete my POF account. Said no as we don't know each other yet.

Put a post on FB in a group I'm in as my gut instinct went wild when he said this and all responses said to delete him. He is well and truly deleted but goes by the David fans is a travel agent from Scotland

Mutual app
by: Anonymous

This person also contacted me on Mutual app for dating. He said his name was Micah and then said it was Keith Stevensen and said he was leaving on a trip to Dubai for 6 months. He kept switching how to contact him (directly on a call phone and then using Hangouts).
His English wasn’t very good but he said he was Norwegian so I tried out some Norwegian with him and he said he didn’t speak it. I then asked him to send me a photo of what he was doing right now and it seemed legit but then I reversed googled that image and found it came from someone else’s profile. I then found this site.

This profile has contacted me too
by: Anonymous

The photo of Newbie Fit has been sent to me as a Raphael Olivier, a scammer who is pretending to be an oil rig contractor. He wanted me to loan him money which I refused and I blocked him.

Response to Wow
by: Anonymous

His photo looks like it has been photoshopped. Do not send any money, do not put his phone on your account. Do not open up yourself to be manipulated. He is fake.

Sounds like someone who scammed me. Same MO just a different name. Did you get an address for the person to send to?

wow!
by: Tammy

These guys will try anything and everything. Now Mark or whatever name he's going by today couldn't get money out of me to supposedly come to me as soon as he can get back to the states through bitcoin along with an iPhone that he wants me to put on my phone plan. He has sent me the info of a man name Yudi Hodge in Brooklyn to send 800.00 to through money gram.

Before I figured out what he was up to he got me for 500.00 by having me send it through money gram to someone in North Carolina.

Not this time buddy!
