Oil Rig Romance Scam.

I have been in a relationship with an oil rig engineer? for the past three years. He said he loved me so much, with all his heart and soul and I loved him the same. He has an eight year old daughter in boarding school in the US. She and I emailed each other and she even called me mum.

His name is Alex Grisel James and his daughters name is Leonora.

He asked me to help him with money. He had to pay for an exit permit to leave the rig. I sent him some little bits of money, but he wanted more and more. He started to plan our future. We were going to get married and live happy ever after.

I am in my mid 70's and he is not yet sixty. He would look after me. Take care of me. He asked me for another 400 euros, even after I told him I had no money at all. He wanted me to borrow it from some of my friends or even try and get it from the bank.

Next he asked me to open a new bank account so he could send me money. Bit silly when he is asking me to send him money. He was to be with me for Christmas, but didn't turn up.

I have a few days ago, sent him a message saying it is all over between us. It is breaking my heart, but I had to do it.

I too feel in love and was scammed

I met this man on Match.com. His name is Nelson Oliver Scott. Supposedly a mechanical engineer, working on big international projects. I have to say that I have had the best conversations with him. He understands women. We talked about everything from relationships, to business, to God! I do love him, but have figured out that he is a scammer.

Four days ago he sent me a message saying that he had to go to one of his projects on a rig off the coast of Cyprus where there was an explosion. I was heartbroken as we were to meet a few days afterwards.

I anticipated a scam, and told him so when he called the following day. He finally arranged to get an i-pad from a 'translator', so we actually saw each other. He looked just like his pictures. So, I put by fears by the way-side and continued to have wonderful conversations with him. Very intense, beautiful, just what anyone that wants love is seeking.

Today after 2 weeks of intense communication he finally asked for money - $25,000 USD.

Thank you for the post you have put up. It helped me to see that he is a scammer. I have blocked him.

Does anyone know of a Keith Ross who professes to be on an oil rig in the Gulf of California? I am almost certain he is a scammer but he certainly pushes all the right buttons for a lonely widow.

If you haven’t met him he isn’t going to look like any of the photos you have seen the photos of him with his daughter aren’t his either.

This is a typical scam. He would be in a room full of men, doing shifts targeting women

He said his name is Roy Olige. I think that is a Nigerian name. Texting rapidly and went to "we had a great connection"—I love you so much sweetie. Asked for a $500 Amazon card or Walmart card. He said just copy the back. I nearly fell for it. I would have hook line and sinker if he hadn’t asked for a gift card. I confronted him with evidence and he tried to reason it out with me. Said he loved me, we made plans, would repay me at the end of month when he’s finished with the project.

He said If I walk away you’ll be alone again. You deserve to be happy. Luckily a friend made me get off the phone. They do dating mining on phones , laptops, etc.

I changed my number and he still texted me and it got through. Be careful of this man. He’s a smooth talker.

Please be careful of a eric martin his email is ericmartin.chevron@gmail.com and he took me for thousands. He was telling me he needed funds to get home and that he was waiting on the chevron company who he worked for and he claims he has a step daughter named gifty martin in the united kingdom.

I sent him everything I owned and now im living in my car with no where to go. He kept saying he loved me and is waiting for his lawyer to fight for his funds from chevron. Well I got deeper into the relationship for years and still he never showed. He is a fake and a scammer and he tells you he is staying with a lawyer by the name of barrister austin so please dont fall for this guy.

Im still heartbroken after 3 years chatting with him.

You did the right thing. He's a scammer! He will keep trying to contact you. BLOCK!!!! It will hurt like crazy, however you will heal. You are not the first or will you be the last. Several sites on the internet help people to report your scammer. If more people did this it would help to connect the dots for the authorities to go after these criminals.

My heart goes out to you. I blocked an "oil rig engineer" about a week a week ago. Your story sounds exactly like mine. I am still getting over it.

I blocked him one day before I was going to send money. My prayers go out to you.
