Henry Lai, rig engineer

by Linda Lam
(MA, USA)

He introduced himself as Henry Lai, and his mother was from Scotland and his father is from Hong Kong. His English grammar is not good. A sweet talker who loves sending romantic songs he said. He grew up in Liverpool, and at age 17 immigrated to USA. He lives in San Jose, CA. His father is also a rig engineer, but got killed in a rig oil station in Texas, and his mother passed away after a year.

He is an only child of this parent. 4 years ago his wife and his only son, got killed in a car accident. He is now in Sicily on an rig oil station, Italy. It was his first biggest project with 200 crew. After 30 days, his patience was done with me. Then he mentioned there was an explosion on the oil station and 2 crew got bad injuries and the dwelling or plumbing is not working and he needs 4500 euro, because his investment has all his money in this project. I tricked him and said sure I could help him and asked him to forward the account numbers.

The account number is in Istanbul, Turkey. After that I text him, his game is over and what a liar he is. He said his action is so innocent and that I insulted him and doesn't matter how hard it is, he will find me and I will need to apologize to him and I will regret it!

I want to find this man in the picture. It is not the real person, but still. I will pay him back an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth! We should write a book and put all the pictures of the scammer, so it might help someone in the world recognize their faces!

I encountered a very similar scam
by: Anonymous

Rig stories are all shockingly similar. Photos looking so real. Even videos of a rig. But all ending the same, asking for some thousand euros.

Can't they live and do some meaningful things than this, earn some decent money? Can they really survive on this kind of money? I find it really hard to understand.

I can't upload a photo of scammer here otherwise I will!

I think that the man in the photo should be caught first. They must be related.

I met him on Facebook
by: Anonymous

He added me on Facebook. At the very beginning he said the same story. He chatted with me in Chinese. I asked him which state do you live in the USA. He did not answer directly. I asked him what food do you like. He doesn’t answer directly.

I think it’s fraud. I asked him to chat in English. His grammar is terrible. I confirmed he was cheating. I blocked him. He added me continuously. And then I find out this page.

I tell him it’s impossible for me to give you 4500. He disappeared

I found several new Facebook accounts opened with Chinese last name. All use handsome, decent Chinese men pictures as cover photos. They all said they work in Sicily Italy as rig engineers. I know they are fraud right away.

Why, if anything too good to be true, they are not true. In addition, I reviewed their profiles carefully, their post, etc. anyway, please don't trust strangers online. Trust is one of most expensive qualities which you should not trade for free online. Women, wake up, use your brain.

Scammer
by: Anonymous

Chances are if you do find the innocent person their response will be very negative towards you. Imagine how you would really respond to someone telling you that your picture is being used to scam people. They don't say thank you, more like lash out at you because they are a victim of identity thief. It doesn't help a thing. Just let it go and heal yourself.

Why ??
by: BrinzeGoddess

Why do you want to find the man in the picture? He is not the person trying to scam you! It is the person using the photo who tried to get your money

He's not worth your time anymore. Move on and heal. Stay educated and warn others so they don't fall victim to these people. Positive energy to you.
