Wants a computer, phone and Ipad.

by Anonymous

I met a widower online on a dating site. He had his bag stolen and wants me to send him a new computer, phone, and Ipad. I offered money to test him and he said he couldn't use it because of canceling his bank card. He lives in California, working on an offshore oil rig. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Scammed?
by: Anonymous

Met someone on a dating site. Petroleum Engineer was awarded a large contract in South Africa. He has a LinkedIn account with 45 followers. Had to leave before we could meet. Originally from UK, married an American woman he met in a UK college. Eventually moved to US. Widower for 6 years. Has 2 daughters both in UK colleges.

Was living in Northern VA and has his own office in CT and a home there. When in CT before he left I asked to Skype. He said yes immediately and skyped right away. I have pics and it was the same man. (Image was clear). I've also asked for specific pics. Selfie at office, selfie at the airport (on the plane before takeoff etc. Pics came within mins of request and were different than site. Paid for a background search. DOB 4/24/59. Address in search matches LinkedIn.

Asked for $ to help get cargo. Frozen acct. I told him he needed his contract I would try to find someone to help him but not me. Not sure if he's a scam.

Does this sound familiar?

Suspicious

I have just had the same thing although some details are different. Met on a dating site but wasn't a widower and no children. Lives in UK and just won a big contract with an oil company in Dubai. On arrival in West Africa, his bag had been stolen containing iPad, phone and some documents vital to his work.

He asked me to replace the items and would pay the money into my bank account first. I declined. The day before he went away he sent gifts of flowers, chocolates and a teddy bear! Surprisingly, I haven't heard from him since I said I was unwilling to help. Unfortunately for him, he picked on the wrong person.

I got scammed about 3 yeas ago and now have no trouble spotting them a mile off. Others have since tried and failed but I usually play along for a little while to see how far they will go! Trust nobody who asks you for money

SCAMMER

Probably already told you that you are special to you, he wants to meet you as soon as he is off the rig, wants to marry you. How about his age and how many children/grandchildren he is responsible for? Did his wife die in childbirth, car accident or cancer?

Are you his queen, wife, wifey. They love to use pet names instead of your own name.

Please research all of the ways they do their best to brainwash you.

I have a long list of scammers that targeted me. Why did they target me? I fell for the first scammer and sent ITunes and Amazon cards.

Sounds bogus to me

I would not give that person anything. If they work on an oil rig they should be making a decent penny. Why should they be bugging a stranger for such things? To possibly scam more people?
I would not continue contact.

Very familiar. Total scammer. Bank cards get replaced so what is the issue? Block him and beware and save yourself time, money and heartache.
