They are on Sorpia

by Terri
(United States)

I have encountered scams on my Skype as well. A Dr. David Mark who is a surgeon in Syria, blah, blah, blah. The minute he/they started typing, I knew it was fraud.

Well, I played along then told them I would send $5000 and then I told them I sent it to this address, which was wrong of course... and I got bold letters out of that. I laughed so hard! I got invited to join Zorpia which is a dating site.

It was fun scrolling through the names so I began to chat with a few of them... They all start out the same, and of course within the second message it's "God has brought us together".. and trying to sound romantic. But for someone who is supposedly a doctor or physicist cannot write worth a dang.

Those are the signs to MOVE ON and don't even try. I'm sure that I'm going to be asked for money soon... and of course I'm going to say "ok" then have my fun and never look back.

Good luck to anyone that has ever sent them money. When you research the names you're given, you will not find the matches.

So ALWAYS do your research before you even start a conversation with someone.

Thank you for your time!

DR MARK DAVID
by: Anonymous

I too have been communicating with a Mark David that says he is in Yemen and orthopedic surgeon. We have been talking for almost 3 months. I would not send him money and he told me that he was going to kill himself. The pics that he sent were very nice looking.

He says he is German but I don't believe him now. He has said all kinds of things to me and made me believe him. But please beware of him. Says he has a son in boarding school in Atlanta, GA - his name is Kelvin. Says his wife cheated on him and he divorced her but says she was killed in a car accident.

Also says that he had a 24 year old daughter that died from cancer. Please beware of him. States he has a lawyer named George Williams. Wanted me to send 3000.00 to Chinetta Williams in Tampa, Fl. so that Mark David could end his contract with the UN because he was afraid of being killed.

Dr. David Miller Mark

These comments are so funny. I play words w friends. Dr. David Miller Mark started a game with me. I love playing the game but I don’t chat.

He started a conversation. My first thought was here we go. Asking if I had a boyfriend. I ignored it but he kept sending messages and it started to look entertaining. So I figured I would not block him yet. I have no idea why I thought to google him. I’m glad I did. Now it’s more entertaining.

So far this is what I’ve gotten:

Said he is an orthopedic surgeon- civilian - under contract with the UN. He said he was "the head of the doctors" there so he had a bigger tent. He used the phrase "head of the doctors" a few times. Finally I said "wow pretty big deal being the HEAD of the doctors". He was very humble and said "oh I’m not a big deal". No bull buddy. He said he invited people to his tent for thanksgiving.

He is 9 months into a 3 year contract. And guess what?!?! He is tired of being there. Wants to move back to California- (his profile says District Of Columbia) where he has a private hospital being built and start a family.

He said I have enjoyed our conversations let’s talk somewhere else. Hahaha! What conversations? I have responded "wow" or "nice" to see what else he would say.

He said his wife was an addict and having too much fun and left him and his 17 year old daughter. He has not seen his ex-wife in years.

He has a picture posted of a pretty good looking guy in scrubs with Stethoscope.

David Mark

I too was contacted by a man named David Mark and David William Mark. David Mark said right away that he lost his wife to cancer. He claims his love for me and wanted to marry me. He told me he has a 7 year daughter. He lost his parents when he was 24 and we talked on the phone. He did not sound like the man in the picture. He had an accent. He swore up and down that was him in the picture.

The man in the pictures eyes where green so i asked him what color eyes did he have and he said black and white. But the man eyes where hazel. I heard him clicking on his computer looking for the picture. I also asked him about his parents and he said he sent that information to me already on messager. He was looking for the message. I told him why dont you tell me now. The lastest was he worked as an electrical engineer on a marine ship. He told me that he had to travel to Asia. Then he changed it to india and he got robbed and they took everything from him. That he was going to the hospital and that his daughter was next to him crying. I often wondered who watches his daughter. I wrote him in a text that i have not heard from him and that it was a sick joke!!.

I thought about it the next thing he was going to ask me for Money. Still have not heard from him in 2 days so now i figured he was scamming. But I must admit he opened dead feelings in me that I never felt before. Now I know I can love again which I thought I would never again feel that with anyone one. Have to thank him for that one

Just stay away from this guy. He is a scammer and a con man. All he wants is your money. He is not an Orthopaedic surgeon in Syria. He is single and does have a son called Andre.

Stay well clear of this scammer!

DR, David Miller Mark
by: Anonymous

I met Dr. David Mark on Skype, his story is all the same. His wife died in a car accident and he was in love with you at the very beginning and wanted to marry you. I thought he was honest and I did send him money, but was informed by my Bank that it was a fraud, and I played along with him and I did get almost all the money back.

He was furious. He had several people bombard me for money. He is a Scammer of the worst kind. He has over 14 different names. He is on Facebook, Skype and several other sites. Be aware.

He is also on a Dating Site. Stay away from him, he is a coward, Scammer, Liar, and will rob you of your money.

David Miller Mark is a scammer, he has 13 names and is on skype and Facebook. He Claims to be a Doctor in Syria, but he is not there. He will ask for money right away and be in love with you immediately and needs money for his son and also will try to get money because he needs to get away to see you.

He is a real con artist so beware of him as he will tell you if do give him money he will repay you, but you won't see a dime of it.

He has 3 or 4 accounts on Facebook and probably 12 to 15 on Skye.

I also received an image of a nice looking older man in his study, and I believe I found out the older man's identity, which is Dr. Fernando Gomez Pinto, a huge public figure in Brazil. There are several profiles run by several different Nigerians, i.e. Bilya Musa, Hamza Salizu, etc.
of David Mark, David Johnson, and the list goes on and on.

If they approach you on Facebook, check the URL for any suspicious names and you'll probably find your culprit.

I'm talking to this guy now and thanking God I read all this. He approached me on FB and apparently his wife died of breast cancer and his parents died in a plane crash. 14 year old son in Georgia. He requested me to switch to Hangouts and I quickly deleted it when I realized he just wanted my email address.

Also he is supposedly a heart transplant surgeon in Iraq working for the UN and is not allowed to do voice or video for security reasons. Such a cute guy too. What a shame. I think I'll keep toying with him for a while before I block him.

This guy's language on his FB page was showing up from Huasa in the upper Nigeria region and he said he used to be a Muslim, which is atypical for a Mexican who moved to New York and then spent time in Iraq.

A fake
by: Anonymous

He asked me to play a game on WWF. Didn’t take long for him to tell me his "sad" story. He said his wife died in a car accident whilst pregnant. Son 17 being brought up by his aunt. Even got "son" to write to me. He said "dad said I can call you Mom" and you won’t be offended. He asked me to write a letter to his superior at UN hospital stating I am his fiancé so he could get leave.

I told him I would be lying. When I told him he was a fake he sent me a photo of his "supposed" hospital ID. I think he might also be posing as "Jeffery" Anderson working I. Aleppo! I had trouble getting rid of him. Went to my I/net provider and blocked him that way.

I also was contacted by Dr. David Mark in Skype that's why I researched to find his real Identity. He pretended to be a surgeon assigned in Syria and he has a 15 years old son left in boarding school in America 😂 and he lost his wife after giving birth to the second child.

I wonder that a certain doctor would waste his time chit chatting just because he is bored in the office??? We chatted for more than two weeks. I hangout because Jr said his signal in Skype is poor. Now that I read this page I told him to stop victimizing people.

Using Dr. Davis Mark
by: Anonymous

He sounded nice and I thought he was just an English Language Learner at first. He has just been very fun to talk to and nice. I met him on twitter so I just thought he was was an old guy who was lonely. A friend said she had had trouble with a few people from a dating site and they all used simple names with Mark in them.

He sent me a picture of a nice looking older man in his study who looked like an older version of his twitter self. My friend and I got suspicious when the good doctor said his wife and daughter had died in a car accident and I found this site.

He hasn't asked for money yet and I was talking to him on WhatsApp until I sent the screenshot of these posts. He claims he can't live chat due to regulations from being in Syria which made sense.

Looks like I will have to find a new boyfriend (ha,ha).

Dr. David Mark also contacted me and it was about his love for me right away. Too good to be true. Of course by his mistakes in his writing I knew he was not a doctor.

I played him along for a short while and then deleted him.

Please do not fall for his style. I am sorry for the gentleman whose pic he uses.

LOL! I did the whole thing when he contacted me on Skype. I pretended I believed everything he said, how much he needed a love in his life, and blah, blah blah... when it came time for him to ask for money, I said sure! How much and where do I send it?

He told me almost $800 to Ghana.

I waited for about 30 mins and then told him I sent it. He told me to repeat the address back and I had purposely told him Gyana. LOL! Oh, he used all caps on me telling me to go back and change it.

So I said ok, be right back... The end.

I get at least 5 of these people hitting me up on Skype everyday. When I have time, I will mess with them just like I did with the good doctor. It's a good laugh and my friends get in on it too telling me what to say to really get them going.

Have a great time with them, but don't EVER send them money.

Got him live right now. Clearly not a doctor - though I do feel for the guy whose identity he may have nicked... There's a slightly more credible looking Dr Marks who works in Texas.

Not sure if he's real, but the scam Dr Marks has a terrible linkedin, and a terrible grasp of the English language. Definitely fake.

Slightly entertaining.

I'm glad you didn't fall for the scammer, and that they are still using that name! That was a you told him too! lol,,,

He told me the same thing on Skype, and I also had no profile on there so I asked where he read my profile. I cannot use facebook due to a stalker situation, and nothing impressive on LinkedIn... hmmmm.

Keep putting the word out there about these scammers! Great job! There are too many people falling for them and going broke doing it.

Keep your guard up!

Hello, I was contacted by this so called Dr David Mark 1/1/2016. By skype--- Started out as he was looking for someone with a simpler Name--- then he said he was touched by my profile (there is nothing in my profile) had him at that point too.

He asked what I did for a living and I told him I was an outhouse attendant. That seemed to have gone over his head!!!

So beware they are still out there!!!!
