Online dating scam

by Anonymous

David Wurtz, supposed subcontractor installs oil and gas pipelines. Asked me to move to cell phone and then Skype. After 4 weeks and one cancelled date said he had to go to London on a job for 9-12 weeks and that he wanted me to move in with him when he got home. He would send me his house key and address after he got settled, and could I send him my address.

I sent him a fake address and waited. After he supposedly arrived in London he asked me to deposit a check for him that he didn't have time to deposit before he flew from Alabama to London. He sent me a picture of the check.

It was for 480K.

It was written by a company that had been shut down by the state of MA for PPP fraud. I told him no but didn't tell him that I knew the check was fake. Then I told him I didn't trust him and didn't believe that he was in London. He got sad because I didn't trust him and asked what he could do to prove the he was the real thing.

I asked for a picture of his passport. It took him 20 hours but he did send me what looked like a legit passport. When I searched the passport number, it turned out to be forged and I found other exact passports with different photos on them.

How stupid do they think we are?????
