Scammer - Steve Jose / Dr. Steve Jones

This guy I met on Instagram two months ago says he’s an Engineer for UN working on a ship in Japan/Korea. Age 56 and has home in Maryland. This guy has thick accent, from Spain. Said his wife died 5 years ago and has 15 year old son who is in Nigeria on an “excursion” trip from Matine Academy institute, NY.


This guy says please help him pay his son (Nelson ) school fees and he will pay you back. He cannot send money to the school manager (Okemute Sylvester) since he is out to sea.

First he says please send money to Nigeria school via WU or MoneyGram. This guy Steve Jose or Dr. Steve Jones will cry, plead etc with you to help him.

Don’t do it.... it is a scam. I actually felt bad for him because he said his son lost his Visa card at the beach snd now has no money for food and do I sent $300,00. After that he kept asking for more money to send to Nigeria to help his son.

Beware the photos he used displayed on Instagram are the same pics from Dr. Steve Jones.

Steve Jose dmed me on WhatsApp and said "Hello pretty. How are you?". I immediately blocked him. I didn't know if he was a scammer or anything. Anyone who faced something similar?

Yes, he told me that he is a doctor in Yemen and he needs money to top up his internet to talk to his son. He said his wife died of cancer 5 years ago. He does have a thick Spanish accent and will definitely try to get your money.

He uses pictures of Dr Brad Schaefer to try to lure you in. He’s very good with words and telling you what you want to hear.
