Facebook and Words With Friends

I was contacted by at least 8 "men" within a month's time. Immediately falling in love with my photo (Which was an immediate red flag). Most of them lost their wife in an accident - have one child who longs for the dad to marry and give them a mother. Half went into the Need Money spiel within two weeks.

Some waited about a month. This last one waited maybe two months - now suddenly equipment is busted and he needs about $100,000 dollars to repair it. They all except two work offshore - allegedly. This last guy has about $25,000,000 in a bank in California. Since he is offshore and his daughter is only 12, I am the only person he can trust to transfer the money so he can pay his debt.

I have been playing along - knowing eventually that a scenario like this would arise. I can give whatever info I have on this one and a few of the others.

They selected the wrong victim - I do not give money that I had to work for to anyone! And there is no way a millionaire is going to give a stranger his bank info and ask her to make a transfer (but dont tell anyone). Even had his "daughter" call and ask me to help dad.

One guy needed money for his dying mother. Three needed money for offshore equipment - but all are engineers and can "feed a country" with all the money they make.

Facebook scammers
by: Anonymous

I was almost scammed by 3 different people from Facebook. The first name used was Greg Navas a mechanical engineer working for Oslo Shipping Company in Norway who had one son in school in US and lost his wife in a tragic accident. After talking on hangouts he was looking for a lifelong partner as he had been alone long enough and all that stuff. Well after a few days all of his profile and pictures disappeared from facebook and I never heard from him again on hangouts or facebook. Thank goodness I did not send him anything.

The next name is Thomas Spencer from Omaha NE a widow of 5 years whose wife died of Ovarian cancer and had a son and a daughter 19 and 17 years of age who he and his wife had in later years. He was working on an oil rig off the coast of Texas and would be there 9 weeks more to finish the contract. We talked on facebook then went to hangouts and after a couple days his profile and pictures disappeared but continued on hangouts until I got suspicious and told him I was going out of state.

Then there was a Lowe Jace from Austin Texas who was 65, 5ft 8in tall with a nice looking picture on his profile and of course he wanted hangouts so I did and we talked for a couple of weeks and all the time he was professing his love and was my soulmate and even took a picture of an engagement ring and a new car he had bought for his wife but by the time he got home she had already died?????

He wanted to put 10,000 into my bank account for us when he came to see me after he went to Turkey for a 3 week contract. I played along with him and gave him false bank account information, fake social security number and fake address. Then he wanted me to take out a credit card through capital one bank. He kept pushing on that until I asked him if that was so important to him why did he not put in his name and add me to it and his reply was "okay baby" so I finally got tired of his bull and told him I had reported him to the Inspector General, Social Security and had put freezes and alerts at all 3 credit bureaus.

Oh and I spoke to him on the phone under both names and it was same person with same accent and same broken English and did a reverse image search on Lowes profile picture which I still had and it turned out to be a 100 x 100 poster. I also let him know that too. He said he was not what I thought he was he was and he was a good man so I told him to prove it and deleted him so Watch out for those names

Beware of George Walters
by: Anonymous

A man saying his name was George Walters started messaging me about a month ago on Words with Friends. Told me I had a lovely smile and he wanted to steal me away. Told me he was working on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico but lived in Maryland with his 2 daughters. Was divorced and had no-one but his girls.

Kept asking me to add him on WhatsApp. After about 3 requests I did. Kept sending messages every morning with pictures of flowers and contacted me regularly throughout the day telling me how much I meant to him.

Then got a message saying how upset he was as he’d broken his phone but was just managing to contact me. Kept saying he needed to get all done so he could get home. Asked me to go on holiday with him and his "2 girls". Said they needed to call someon Mom. He then asked me to download an app called Hangouts. Which I did.

He even phoned me and sounded a bit Latino but an odd accent. That same day he messaged me saying they had a problem with a valve on the rig and it was going to cost him a lot to put right. To cut a long story short he asked me to send money to help pay for the repairs.

Told me he needed 12,700 dollars.

Glad to say I’m not that gullible and told him I couldn’t send any money and to talk to the people running his contract. He started begging telling me he had tears running down his face. Said a friend was giving him 7000 and asked me for 2000.

Again I said no.

At this point I cut off all contact and have deleted him from every app.

I feel so foolish to have fallen for his lies, but when you’re unhappy and lonely you are very vulnerable.

Ladies be warned. Hang on to your cash and don’t let these scummy people get the better of you

In addition
by: Anonymous

Two of these people sent pictures of injuries and wanted me to believe that they survived terrible explosions and could message me within a day.

I’m far from stupid.

I was trying to post photos but am failing in that area. Ask me anything and I will try to help.
